Korea consumer product spread survey added 19 items such as children's wear

The Korea Fair Trade Commission and the Ministry of Planning and Finance recently jointly published 48 products for this year's survey of domestic and foreign consumer price differences.

The South Korean government plans to analyze and publish the reasons for the domestic and foreign spreads of consumer goods before the end of November in order to promote price reductions for more expensive products at international prices and, if necessary, to develop measures to improve the distribution structure.

The Korean Fair Trade Commission has started 11 items including canned beer, nutritional cream, gasoline, diesel, liquid natural gas (LPG), household cleaners, snack biscuits, milk, multivitamins, orange juice and coffee specialty coffee since 2008. Consumer goods, the implementation of domestic and foreign spreads survey, originally planned to increase the number of survey items to 30, but in January President Lee Myung-bak at the State Council stressed that if people’s necessities of life are more expensive than international prices, measures should be developed to adjust supply and demand, downgraded As a result, the number of items surveyed this year has increased to 48 items.

New survey items for the year include entertainment devices, digital cameras, LCD and LED TVs, mineral water, ice cream, cheese, chocolate, disposable soft contact lenses, digital blood pressure monitors, allergic skin creams, and children's clothing. There are 19 items of new consumer goods such as baby carriages and 18 necessities such as flour, instant noodles, bread, beef, pork, onions, garlic, edible oil, eggs, and sugar.
