On December 1, 60 textile industry standards approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially began implementation. It covers 7 fields including cotton textile printing and dyeing, wool textile, hemp textile, silk, knitting, tapes, textile machinery and accessories. It has a total of 33 revised standards and 27 new standards.

Among them, the standard for "knitted colored cotton underwear" is particularly eye-catching. This is the first standard for colored cotton underwear in China. However, senior members of the colored cotton industry told the “Daily Economic News” reporter: “The golden age of colorful cotton underwear is over. Standards are a bit late!”

On the first day of the new standard, companies do not know that according to the reporter, 60 items of textile industry standards that began on December 1 have been developed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the former National Development and Reform Commission. All 60 standards are recommended standards, of which 3 are resource conservation and comprehensive utilization standards, and the remaining 57 are textile product standards.

This new standard covers a very wide range. For example, the "Comprehensive Energy Consumption Calculation Methods and Basic Quota of Printing and Dyeing Enterprises" has increased the basic quotas for the energy consumption of all major categories of printing and dyeing products, and increased the assessment of sewage energy use for auxiliary production; the "First Forming Seamless Body Shape" has been specified for the first time. The shape and logo requirements of a molded seamless body underwear; "Knitted colored cotton underwear" specifies for the first time the specifications, requirements, test methods, determination rules, product instructions, packaging, transportation and storage of knitted colored cotton underwear. .

Sun Ximin, who participated in the drafting of this standard, told the “Daily Economic News” reporter: “Although the 60 industry standards are all recommended standards, they still have certain restrictions on the company. When corporate standards and industry standards exist at the same time, corporate standards must not be lower than industry standards; once an enterprise declares that it has adopted industry standards, the industry standards will have legal effect on enterprises when they are sampled by the industrial and commercial departments."

Although the scope is arguable, and the content is seldom, it is surprising that many companies are unaware of this new standard. Tingmei Group Technology Co., Ltd. and Dingyi Color Cotton Clothing Co., Ltd. all told reporters that they do not know the new standard.

Hu Botao, chief engineer of Beijing Tiancai Textile & Garment Co., Ltd., told the reporter of “Daily Economic News”: “I really heard that there were new industry standards for colored cotton underwear, but I haven’t seen specific standard content until today. I also trust textiles. The people at the station helped me pay attention and wanted to buy a new standard as soon as possible."

The first colored cotton underwear standard came too late to be the industry standard for colored cotton underwear. Among the 60 new standards, it was more noticeable. Prior to this, colored cotton was only a universal standard, and multi-colored cotton underwear companies were produced according to the standard of thermal underwear. The color cotton content in colored cotton underwear on the market varies from 10% to 100%.

However, Zhang Duo, director of Shanghai Duo Cai Cotton Garments Co., Ltd., bluntly told the reporter of “Daily Economic News”: “This standard came too late. In recent years, colored cotton has declined in the market, the standard lags behind, and the market’s cohabitation has caused this. The industry leads to a dead end."

Duo Cai Cotton Garment Co., Ltd. is one of the companies that started to get involved in colored cotton underwear earlier in the country. Director Zhang explained to the reporter: “The most prosperous time for colored cotton was in 04, 05 and 06. As the colored cotton has the concept of environmental protection and green, companies have swarmed and the market is unexpectedly good. However, the rapid growth of the industry has led to the supply of colored cotton. The chain could not keep up, some companies began to use white cotton to dye and then colored cotton, and inferior products did not restore the credibility of the industry. In addition, some companies started to fight price wars, and the profits of regular colored cotton underwear manufacturers declined rapidly. The industry is extremely lethal."

In fact, Duo Cai is also one of the main makers of the “knit colored cotton underwear”. Director Zhang disclosed to reporters that the standard was established as early as 3 or 4 years ago, and there was not much difference between the quality and craftsmanship and the common color cotton standard before. However, he told the Daily Economic News reporter: “Three or four years have passed, and the colorful cotton market has also undergone tremendous changes. In 2004, the share of colored cotton underwear accounted for 80% of the thermal underwear in some stores. Now, the share of colored cotton underwear is less than 20%. Du Cai also only made 100% colored cotton underwear from the beginning, and instead started to develop corn fiber, bamboo charcoal fiber, and milk fiber. About 30% of color products."

In this regard, Sun Ximin said: "The reason why the introduction of the standard is lagging behind the industry because a certain market only has a certain degree of maturity, the company and related industries have the conscious and ability to start the development of new product standards."

Director Zhang believes: “In the long run, the new standard should be beneficial to the improvement of the entire market level. But the effect of the standard also depends on the supervision of shopping malls and industry and commerce. Whether the colored cotton underwear industry can reproduce its splendor remains to be seen. Wait and see."
