Scotland expands China's textile software market

On the 29th, Scotland’s Chief Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced the expansion of two Scottish companies in the textile and software sectors in China. This reflects the Chinese market’s giving of Scottish expertise in these areas. More trust.

The Scottish textile company J&D Wilkie (Chinese subsidiary: Wilke) will spend 3 million pounds (about 29 million baht) to build a new factory in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, near Shanghai, to produce technical textiles. All yarn operations are concentrated in the same location to increase competitiveness.

At the same time, Glasgow-based Digimania Corporation announced that it will cooperate with the Shanghai Institute of Arts and Crafts to provide three-dimensional animation software training, and set up a joint venture with Shanghai Moyi Network Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Moyi Technology") in China. These cooperation projects will increase Digimania’s revenue in China in the next three years by nearly 12 million pounds (about 116 million bucks).

The Scottish Chief Minister Nikolai Stepin and Vice Mayor of Zhejiang Jiaxing City Zhao Shumei visited the new site of the Wilco Group's factory in Jiaxing on the 29th and hosted the foundation laying ceremony. Headquartered in Angus, northeastern Scotland, the Wilco Group has been producing jute and linen products since 1868, and the company’s production has nearly doubled since it began operations in China eight years ago. This project will create 90 jobs in Scotland and at the same time it will double the number of Welk Group jobs in China.

Ms. Nikolai Stepin said: With its rich history, innovative spirit and unparalleled creativity, the Scottish textile industry produces products that are widely loved and internationally admired. From technical textiles, interior decoration to fashion, Scottish textiles interpret the perfect combination of quality and innovation, which is what Chinese companies and consumers are pursuing. The Wilk Group has established itself in the Chinese market and hopes to seize various opportunities open to them and expand the company’s business in China. They are good examples for other Scottish companies and show how they can develop and benefit from foreign markets.

Bob Low, president of the Wilk Group, said that the 180,000-square-foot facility in Jiaxing, China, will have all spinning and weaving units in the same location. This will further consolidate its position in Europe. Since its yarn production business in China, its Scottish weaving unit in Europe has nearly doubled its growth.
